Our Next GEN program is a unique program designed to provide intentional, consistent, measurable one-on-one fishing and outdoor-related experiences, as well as meaningful spiritual guidance, for youth from military families and from single-parent households.
NextGEN program is focused on serving youth to 18, who come from a Minnesota veterans family or single-parent families. There is no cost to the parents or kids. After an interview by Fishing For Life staff, selections will be made to help each youth match up with a trained NextGEN Guide. Boys will be matched with men, girls will be matched with women. All guides are vetted, trained, and very experienced within Fishing for Life programming. The adult will hopefully become a friend, mentor, and fishing-related guide for many Fishing For Life outings over the next year.
All the programming, training, and materials are provided to both the mentor and mentee. This is a perfect fit for our adult men and women who have been with Fishing For Life for years as event volunteers, and now are ready to “step up” into a more focused mentoring role for a very specific kid relationship.
Consistent with the Fishing For Life mission statement, this program will continue to provide sound Christian leadership and young manhood or womanhood character-building support during all Fishing for Life activities.
