The Fishing For Life Annual Holes 4 Heroes Ice Fishing Tournament held on Medicine Lake in Plymouth is an exciting event that combines the thrill of ice fishing with a noble cause. Anglers from all around gather on the frozen expanse of Medicine Lake to compete, showcase their fishing skills, and support a charitable initiative.
Participants will drill holes in the ice, drop their lines, and engage in friendly competition to reel in the biggest catch. This multi-Species length tournament offers 1st and 2nd place winners in each of the following categories; walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, Sunfish, Crappie and Perch. The tournament not only promises a day of fun and camaraderie but also serves a greater purpose.
The Holes 4 Heroes tournament specifically aims to honor and support military veterans, providing a platform for them to enjoy a day of fishing while also raising awareness about the challenges they may face.

2024 EVENT CANCELED
Fishing For Life 13th Annual HOLES 4 HEROES Ice Fishing tournament honoring veterans.
MINNEAPOLIS – Fishing For Life, a non-profit organization serving youth and families in the Twin Cities, is canceling their 13th Annual Holes 4 Heroes Ice Fishing Tournament with presenting sponsor Hoffman Weber Construction. The Holes 4 Heroes tournament was set to take place on Medicine Lake from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. Feb 10th.
After much consideration of the metro lake ice conditions, and with safety of our veterans, volunteers, partners, staff, and participants at the forefront Fishing For Life made the hard decision to cancel the ice tournament and the ceremonies, including the recruit swearing-in for 2024. With the warm weather, recent rain, and predicted record high temperatures leading up to the event we anticipate even greater risky ice conditions. All tournament entrance fees will be issued by February 2nd, please allow for a few days for processing. Prizes will be held for the 2025 tournament. Fishing For Life will continue to provide Veteran’s events through their Military Relationships through Recreation Programming in 2024 despite this loss in fundraising.
The day of event raffle will not be taking place.
