Joelle GEM Camp Assitant/Banquet Coordinator

Hi!  My name is Joelle Friesen, and I live in Blaine, MN.  I've been married to my husband James for 18 years.  We are forever grateful for and delighted by our 3 kids: Elijah (13), Isabel (11), and Isaac (5).

Originally from Red Wing, MN, I met my husband in 1991 during my first year at Northwestern College in Roseville where I majored in Bible, Accounting, Psychology, and Counseling/Crisis Intervention.
In 1993 I began working as a Program Counselor for developmentally disabled adults, then shifted gears and became the Human Resources Director for the same organization in 1995.  It was during this multi-faceted role where I realized my love for details: I conducted interviews, administered and interpreted psychological testing of applicants, worked as the training coordinator, wrote policies and procedures, supervised the office staff and ran the team of recruiters.  I definitely like to keep busy!
In 1999 James and I had our first child.  When he was 9 months old, I felt confirmation from the Lord that my path was to quit my job and focus my life and energy on my family and home.  We bought a home in south Minneapolis and began attending Immanuel Baptist Church (now Cornerstone Community Church), which was just minutes from our new home.  This is where I first met GEM Camp Director Dave Lindmark.
In 2005 I accepted a part-time position as the Office Manager at Immanuel, where I worked while my young kids were in school.  I also worked as the Children's Ministries Director and the Worship Team Coordinator.  In addition to these roles, in 2007 I accepted a 2nd job as an Administrative Assistant to Dave Lindmark & GEM Camps.
I have been working alongside Dave ever since, and have been delighted with the merger between GEM and Fishing for Life.  It's been so exciting to watch these ministries grow!
If you have any questions for me, feel free to email me at joelle@fishingforlife.org.
